The Sikhs in Kashmir valley floated a political forum - All Parties’ Sikh Coordination Committee - for protecting the rights of the minority community and to improve its socio-economic position.
“The representatives of the Sikh political and social parties and elected members of SGPC of all the districts formed the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee”, its Coordinator Jagmohan Singh Raina told the reporters.
The Committee decided that the Sikhs would take interest in the political affairs of the state to improve the economic, social and political position of the community.
Accusing the Centre and state governments of being “biased” towards majority community, he alleged, “Sikhs have been ignored in government jobs, special packages and developmental affairs of the state.”
It can be noted here that similar concerns have been expressed by other minor communities of the state, like Hindus and Laddakhis.
