Up till now 3 leaders of Hurriyat conference, Mohd Shaffi Rangrez and Abdul Gani Shah have been arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

Ghulam Nabi Gundana and Abdul Gani Shah were arrested on 2nd october, whereas Mohd Shaffi Rangrez was arrested on 2nd of october.Thus in a weeks time there have been 3 arrests.

Out of them, Mohd Shaffi Rangrez is in Kot Bhalwal jail and the other two leaders are in the sub district jail at Hiranagar.

Due to the arrest of these leaders, the other Hurriyat members and separatists are under pressure and have gone underground. The dossiersof 18 Hurriyat leaders and Over ground workers of militants are sent to the district magistrate for issuance of PSA warrants in Doda…

It has been reported that Hurriyat Conference leaders and Over ground workers (OGW) of militants will try to disrupt Assembly elections in the two militancy affected Districts i.e, Doda and Kishtwar. Therefore, in order to carry out peaceful Assembly elections iin the state, Police have launched an offensive against
Hurriyat Conference leaders and OGWs of militants in Doda and Kishtwar region.

Keeping in view the current situation in the two districts (Doda and Kishtwar), Police have identified 30 trouble mongers in Doda including including Hurriyat leaders and OGWs. Out of them, dossiers of 18 have been prepared and submitted to the District Magistrate for issuance of Public Safety Act warrants while dossiers of 12 others are being pursued.

Same is the condition of Kishtwar. There also the Police have identified dozens of trouble mongers for detention under PSA. Out of them, dossiers of 12 are ready, whereas Public Safety Act warrant of one of the Hurriyat leaders is already been issued, but he is still absconding.

Police are conducting searches fot the underground separatists at different places in the state.
